GUIDANCE ON HANDLING, PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE OF

POLYESTER SLING

NORMAL WORKING CONDITIONS

This specific lifting device should be used to lift loads according to the existing European and National standards exception made for the following limitations here listed:

handling instructions

this specific lifting device must be used only by a competent person and for the following applications:

• flat webbing sling: with its dedicated lifting accessories to assembly flat webbing slings
  - single layer webbing sling
  - double layer webbing sling
  - endless flat webbing sling

• Round endless polyester sling : with its dedicated lifting accessories to be used to manufacture round endless polyester slings

Particular care must be drawn in handling these products in case they are combined with steel fittings , in that case it will be personnel’s duty to wear :

• gloves
• safety shoes

the user should also check the webbing conditions before any lifting operations ( to verify the presence of label and legibility of marking, lack of space among the yarns, cutting, damaged yarns, wear, deformation and general damages)

lifting capacity and various modes of use

the end user of the product should make reference to the Sirtef’s technical manuals in order to :

• fix the working load limit of the single webbing sling or the assembly sling that is going to be used;
• choose the proper mode of use in relation with the load that has to be lifted;
• select the correct lifting fittings suitable to be assembled with the textile sling
• avoid asymmetrical stresses without the due precautions

precautions

• it is forbidden to use the polyester slings with temperature over 100 °C
• it is forbidden to use the polyester slings with temperature below - 40 °C
• protect the parts of the sling that could be affected by sharp edges
• do not drag the slings on rough surfaces
• do not pass over the webbing sling with any kind of equipment (i.e.fork lift truck)
• the sling should be placed in storage in a dry and shadow zone;
• stitching should never be placed over hooks or other lifting device: the stitching should always be placed in the standing part of the sling.

IF THE WEBBING SLING IS ASSEMBLED TOGHETER WITH STEEL FITTINGS , THE USER MUST ALWAYS CHECK BEFORE ANY LIFTING OPERATION THE SUITABILITY OF THE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS AND THE TOTAL CAPACITY OF THE ASSEMBLY IN RELATION WITH THE EXISTING TECHNICAL CATALOGUES AND DATA SHEETS.
