GUIDANCE ON HANDLING, PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE OF

LIFTING ACCESSORIES

NORMAL WORKING CONDITIONS

This specific lifting device should be used to lift loads according to the existing European and National standards exception made for the following limitations here listed

handling instructions

this specific lifting device must be used only by a competent person .

Particular care must be drawn in handling these products , it will be personnel’s duty to wear :

• gloves
• safety shoes
• safety glasses

the user should also check the fitting conditions before any lifting operations ( to verify the presence of label and legibility of marking , cuts, nicks, cracks ,gouges, excessive corrosion, wear, deformation and general damages)

lifting capacity and various modes of use

the end user of the product should make reference to the Sirtef’s technical manuals in order to :

• avoid the use of any fitting that shows defects of any kind on the surface easily detectable;
• choose the proper mode of use in relation with the load that has to be lifted;
• select the correct lifting fittings suitable to be assembled with the slings that has to be used for the lifting operation either, in chain, wire rope or textile webbing;
• check the total capacity of the assembly according to the existing catalogues and technical data sheets;
• avoid asymmetrical stresses without the due precautions
• do not modify or repair the original fitting without the supplier allowance;

THE MISINTERPRETATION OF THE ABOVE RULES AND AN UNAPPROPRIATE USE OF THE LIFTING ACCESSORIES COULD PROVOKE INJUIRIES TO PEOPLE AND DAMAGES TO THINGS

Maintenance Instructions

▪ Always inspect the fitting before any lifting operation;

▪ the lifting accessory should be regularly checked : the timing of the controls should be defined in accordance with the frequency of use ;

▪ carefully check that the fitting does not show any relevant defect;

▪ during maintenance the accessory should not be modified in any way to increase the lifting capacity or the working conditions ;

▪ we recommend you to ask for our consultancy at least to fix the guidelines to follow in order to perform a correct ordinary maintenance to the lifting accessories, according to the specific needs and operational ways of the different users.

Use restrictions

▪ the lifting capacity of the fitting could be adversely affected by high room temperature, so the working load limit should be reduced consequently;

▪ the operator should check the possibility to use a fitting if chemical conditions apply;

▪ the lifting accessory should not be used any time the application which is dedicated for does not grant a safe lifting operation that means that the load should not unexpectedly fall down.
